An international organization is referred to any organization with international membership, scope or presence. This term is commonly reserved for intergovernmental organizations like the Inter-American Organizations, United Nations Organizations, International Financial Institutions, Other Regional Organizations and other Specialized Agencies of the United Nations. The Inter-American Organizations comprises Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC), Inter-American Center of Tax Administrators (CIAT), Inter-American Indian Institute (IAII), Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture (IICA), Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research, Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission, Organization of American States (OAS), Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Pan American Institute of Geography and History, Pan American Railway Congress Association and Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal (PUASP).
The Inter-American Organizations along with the other international organization tends to relate to global issues on individual levels but they differ in function, membership and membership criteria. It includes the Border Environment Cooperation Commission which was established in November 1993 to identify, evaluate and certify environmental infrastructure projects. This organization also promotes the development of the border strip and strengthens cooperation between the two countries. It serves to narrow the gap between the border societies. This organization works directly with the communities. Till date BECC has gained a lot of popularity by benefiting the society by solving its major problems. The Water Supply and Sewage Treatment problems in the United States have been solved by this organization.
Another constituent of the Inter-American Organizations is the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrators (CIAT). It began in 1965. This serves as a permanent forum to consider problems that are faced by the tax administrations. The first General Assembly was held in Panama. The center aims at promoting and facilitating mutual cooperation between its member countries. It also provides a forum for the exchange of experiences. Due to this center, the tax administrations have developed a lot. The Inter-American Organizations also includes Inter-American Indian Institute (IAII) and Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture which promotes prosperity in the rural communities of the Americas.
Another organization working under the Inter-American Organizations is the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research. This organization faces the Challenge of Global changes. This center makes policy and decisions for the society for improved understanding of the behavior of the global system. Inter American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) brings to you a detailed information on the tuna dolphin issue. Other organizations working included in the Inter-American Organizations are The Organization of American States (OAS) which brings together the nations of the Western Hemisphere and aims at a stronger cooperation on democratic values. It defends common interests and debates the major problems in facing the region and the world.
Inter-American Organizations also comprises Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and The Pan American Institute of Geography and History, an international organization that aims at generating knowledge specialized in the fields of cartography, geography, history and geophysics. Other organizations are Pan American Railway Congress Association and Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal (PUASP), an intergovernmental organization which is formed by 27 States.
