If we dwell on an Overview of International Agreements and Treaties , we come to realize that the terms “treaty and agreement” refer to an agreement which is worked out between political bodies like the state and other organizations. This is at the international levels. A treaty is an agreement which is worked out between nations. It helps them to reach a certain levels of mutual compromise or understanding. The in the interest of nations. It helps them to maintain peace and security. Once they become a party to a treaty, it helps them to prevent mutual aggression. Nassau Agreement, is a very famous treaty which was struck between President John F Kennedy of the United States and Prime Minister Harold Macmillan of United Kingdoms. Kennedy represented United States and on the other hand England was represented by the Prime Minister Harold Macmillan. The historical treaty took place between the United States and England. Thereby, Nassau Agreement is one of the Major Treaties of the World
The Nassau Agreement, was entered on the date the 18th of December, 1962. Prior to the agreement, the two leaders met for not less than three days. Important discussions carried on between the two eminent leaders.
The Conditions of the The Nassau Agreement, were as such. Under the terms and conditions of the Nassau Agreement, the United States of America would now need to provide the United Kingdom with five Polaris submarines. They would also have to provide the country with associated nuclear-armed Polaris missiles. This was under the terms of the Polaris State Agreement as well. In return for this the United Kingdoms would lease out to the Americans a nuclear submarine base at the location of Holy Loch, very close to Glasgow.
The Nassau Agreement was clear on certain issues. These were that the United Kingdom's Polaris missiles were a part of the “ multi-lateral force” within NATO. They could be used independently when the “supreme national interests.” were at stake.
