UN Charter

If we carry out an Overview of International Agreements and Treaties, we come to understand the true implications of the term treaty. It implies the an agreement at international levels. This takes between political bodies like states and other organizations.

UN Charter or the United Nations Charter as it is also known as is the Treaty that has helped in the formation and functioning of the rest of the United Nations. It encompasses the ideals of the entire United Nations.

It is considered to be one of the Major Treaties of the World . This is as because in true nature of a treaty it is an agreement between the states. It was a mutual peace pact which the states of the world had got into. This treaty was entered into by many states. This was in the year 1945. The venue was at the United Nations Conference on International Organization at San Francisco, California, United States.

The UN Peace Treaty came into force in the year 1945. More specifically on the date the 24th of October, 1945. This after it was ratified by the 5 permanent members of the Security Council. These were the following countries- The Republic of China, France, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic, the United Kingdoms and the United States to name a few.

UN Charter spells out certain principles in its preambles. These are to do with what it wants to achieve as a part of its services to mankind.

It is clearly spelled out in the UN Charter that it wants to save succeeding generations from the ravaging effects of war. This is as because it brings about untold miseries ans sufferings in the life of man. UN Charter further goes on to claim that it would like to bring about a reaffirmation of faith in the fundamental human rights. This in the dignity and worth of the human person. This also in the equal rights of men, women and nations. This applies to both large nations as well as small ones.

To achieve these ends the UN Charter, expects of people living allover the world, to practice tolerance. They were also expected to live together with one another as good neighbors and friends. This would also contribute in the mission of which the ideals of the UN Charter were trying to achieve. It would help to empower the UN as well to further maintain international peace and and security.

Bing a charter, it is in the nature of a Treaty. This means that all its members need to practice and live by its articles. Furthermore, the Charter states that the the states will have to carry over the peace related ideals to other international pacts as well. Almost every country in the world is a party to the peace pact.

The UN Charter comprises of a preamble which sum up its ideals. This is followed by a series of articles. These articles are further classified into chapters.

Some of these articles are such. Chapter I clearly states the purpose of the United Nations and what it is trying to achieve. Chapter II once again clearly spells out why it is important for the states to enter into this peace treaty.

The UN Charter effectively brings about the peace of nations.
